About Reiko Kakinuma
Reiko Kakinuma is a freelance violinist, dedicated violin teacher, an experienced interpreter for masterclasses/ music festivals and a consultant for study abroad. She is a violin coach for Tokyo College of Music International Youth Orchestra and co-director of Yokohama International School string ensemble. She was also the Japan Representative for the Royal Academy of Music (London), 2016-2022.

Biography
After her undergraduate studies at the Tokyo College of Music, Reiko Kakinuma graduated with distinction both in the Tokyo College of Music master’s course, as well as the Royal Academy of Music Postgraduate Diploma course. While enrolled at the Tokyo College of Music, she received a special scholarship as well as a special scholarship for a short-term study abroad programme at the Royal Academy of Music. She then received a scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music for her postgraduate diploma under the guidance of Prof. Maurice Hasson, and upon completion, received the Dip.RAM award.
She has performed solo recitals regularly at the St Martin within Ludgate church, Schott Music London, and Meguro Persimmon Hall. As a freelance orchestral player, she has performed in the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, English National Orchestra, Ensemble Musicus, Verdandi Camerata, New Japan Philharmonic, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Chiba Symphony Orchestra among others.
During 2008-2016, she was a supporting performer at the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music and a member of the Senzoku Gakuen New Philharmonic Orchestra. Currently, she is a member of the Orchestra Triptyque, violin coach for Tokyo College of Music International Youth Orchestra, and co-director of the Yokohama International School String Ensemble. She was also the Japan Representative for the Royal Academy of Music till 2022.
